Mid-semester Examination (closed book/notes)                                           30 points

Two announced quizzes (closed book/notes)                                                 20 points

Final Examination (closed book/notes)                                                         40 points

Attendance, general participation in flipped classroom as
well as tutorials (including surprise quizzes, etc.)                                         10 points

Grading will be relative, however, for a passing grade around 30 % of absolute marks are necessary while for an A* grade, an exceptional performance is necessary.

Attendance: is mandatory, both in the flipped classroom and in the tutorials. Students are mandatory to watch video lectures before coming to the flipped classroom for discussion. Thus, it is recommended that students watch the video lectures on a regular basis. Students are also suggested to ask questions on the portal in case of any doubts.

Students with low attendance will be dropped from the course as per the guidelines of the Institute. There may be surprise quizzes in the flipped classroom hours as well as in the tutorials. Each tutor will decide the individual policy for his section regarding submission of homework problems including the tutorial marks.

Exams/Central Quizzes: Correct solutions will be put up on the intranet after the examination.

Re-grading: You can return the test/central quiz copies on the day the answer-scripts are distributed (in a tutorial) for re-grading, after describing the detailed comments on the top of the answer-scripts. If you are absent on that day, you lose the right of appeal. Re-grading of the entire question will be done even if a part re-grading is requested for.

Make-up Exams: One make-up examination will be given only to the students with regular attendance in Lectures and Tutorials. Students missing mid-semester examination, or only one central quiz, can take this upon production of a valid medical certificate. The entire material covered in the course will be included, irrespective of which test is missed. This make-up will be at the same time as the final make-up exam (date of which will be decided by the DOAA). Thus, there will be only ONE make-up test after the final examination for the entire course. Lastly, cheating of any kind (proxy in attendance or taking help during examinations, copying, etc.) would result in severe punishment.
